Raw, unprecedented gaming power meets living room entertainment with a beautiful design
PiixL, the designer of the hugely popular EdgeCenter, is excited to unveil details of a new breed of super sleek, high performance and open gaming hardware platform - Introducing JetPack.
Designed specifically for the living room and SteamOS for those that want the ultimate home-entertainment experience wrapped up in a super smart yet hackable design.
PiixL has become an expert at designing TV-centric PC hardware and is now set to break new grounds with this latest release. With over 500 watts of thermal capacity available to house the fastest components, Jetpack promises to be the most powerful machine offered in such a compact package.
Designed around PiixL’s leading edge cooling architecture, Jetpack uses a new generation of centrifugal fans to stay ultra-quiet at all times while being able to host factory overclocked Core i7 processors, up to one Terabyte of SSD storage, and the latest graphics cards from nVidia, including Titan and GTX780s.
Jetpack will be fully optimised to compliment OS’s such as Windows and Linux, with a special focus on SteamOS which combines the rock-solid architecture of Linux with a gaming experience built for the big screen. Steam OS will be available soon as a free operating system designed for the TV and the living room, already boasting thousands of games and millions of users.
Stand out smart design
Despite being a full-on x86 Gaming machine, Jetpack’s new smart design allows an extraordinarily ultra-thin form. This sleek design factor enables Jetpack to be directly mounted between the back of any wall mountable TV and wall bracket via the VESA Flat Display Mounting Interface which can be found at the back of most modern TVs. The Jetpack can of course also be directly mounted to any TV that isn’t wall mounted, and extends in width to give access to all physical controls and medias right at the edge of any display from 32” to 70” in size.
Francois-Xavier Gardes, PiixL’s Managing Director says: “Jetpack is designed for gamers that do not want to compromise on performance nor interior design. Whether wall mounted or on a table, its presence stays smart and minimalistic while providing leading edge-performance and tweak potential virtually on par with a full-tower. If the future of gaming is open, so should be the hardware platform it is being played on!”
Jetpack’s official launch date is set as the 1st of January 2014. Prices are expected to start from $1000.00 however full pricing information will be announced later in 2013.
PiixL Technologies Ltd is a London-based start-up which was founded in 2011 following the success of their iconic EdgeCenter concept. The Jetpack is their first true gaming machine aimed at a broad audience. The result of many months of development and refinement, Jetpack embraces the digital living-room revolution with a beautiful, high-performance and open hardware platform. www.piixl.com
